Hey L,
This email may come off as negative, but I truly believe this is the case.
If things are ever going to change when it comes to the way we approach sex, sexuality, and "sexual brokenness", we are going to need our kids, teens, and young adults to lead the way.
The truth is, many of us who find ourselves in the over 30 crowd (myself included) have been indoctrinated for so long into unhealthy conversations and mindsets on these topics that the possibility of a sudden shift in approach is unrealistic.
Sure…
- Some of us may change.
- Some of us will challenge our preconceptions.
- Some of us may be willing to poke the box and get uncomfortable.
But the majority won't because the cultural norm we find ourselves in is far too comfortable and familiar.
But we can lead our youth towards a better way and equip them for the task at hand.
I said before that my book is not a "recovery" book.
Yes, I wrote much of it on behalf of the many individuals I've coached, served, or helped over the past 10 years to provide a fresh perspective and tangible hope.
But I also wrote it for you and your children.
Because I believe:
- If we can change the way we talk to our kids and youth about sex, porn, and masturbation…
- If we can show them these conversations don't have to be so scary…
- If we can help them understand God's design for sex…
We can show them a new way to approach these matters.
A healthier way.
An honest way.
A loving and graceful way.
And they can lead all of us to a new conversation that's hopeful and life-giving.
The future is in their hands.
Help them shape it the right way.
