View this email in your browser Hey y'all, Here are 10 things I thought were worth sharing this week:  How to make a zine from a single sheet of paper.    Neil Postman's advice for how to live the rest of your life.   I'm a big fan of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, so I enjoyed reading Seinfeldia: How a Show About Nothing Changed Everything. (I also re-read the funny Seinfeld as gentrification essay in Ian Svenonius's The Psychic Soviet, which is getting a reissue this summer from Akashic Books.) Seinfeld was a great example of what I call "negative self-definition": You start out by saying what you won't do. (Larry David had one rule in the writer's room: "No hugging, no learning.")   A great essay by Karen Russell on writing, money, and being a mother. (More on writing and money: "the dirty secret" that Virginia Woolf told us about almost 100 years ago.)    How to have a Weird Internet Career, a six-part blog series by Gretchen McCullough, author of Because Internet.   Eye candy: Maira Kalman has illustrated Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas. Here's a delightful short film of her impersonating Toklas, more about the project, and a look at Stein and Toklas's Paris apartment. (More eye candy: Composition books and one-star reviews of national parks.)    I can add Rebecca Solnit to my list of curious elders and I can add the Austrian National Library to the spots on my library tourism list.    My first grader is very happy that after 25 years there's a new Wayside School book. (I really enjoyed Jia Tolentino's profile of author Louis Sachar.)   On Netflix: I loved Dolemite Is My Name. Raunchy, joyous fun.
