Hey L,
Last week I asked you this...
What is stopping you from being the best version of yourself?
I also said that in most cases, the answer to that question is fear.
Fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of abandonment and condemnation. It's far easier and more comfortable staying put in our dissatisfaction than risking what may happen if we are brave enough to step out and seek help.
A large part of the reason we feel this way is that we see how our culture often treats those who do choose a path of transparency, honesty, and openness. We've witnessed the public shaming that happens on social media when someone is honest rather than just going with the flow.
It can get ugly.
So we mistakenly adopt silence as "the best policy," rather than honesty. But when we do this, we rob ourselves of the opportunity for growth and damage our integrity in the process.
Yes, admitting we need help and being transparent about our struggles can get scary. But it's the path to healing and true strength of character.
That's the subject of this week's post. Let us know what you think in the comments!
