Hey L,
Last week I told you about our Set Apart year-end fundraising campaign. I also explained our reasoning behind selecting the name "Set Apart", as we firmly believe it perfectly describes our philosophy as both a ministry and a nonprofit organization.
So with that said, I thought we should talk about our approach to fundraising.
As you know, today is Giving Tuesday. That means you will likely see many causes vying for funding from would-be supporters.
And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that – but we do it a little differently.
You see, in a world inundated with impersonal email campaigns, we take a road less traveled. Instead of bombarding supporters with constant donation requests, we invest our energy in cultivating genuine connections.
If you've been with us awhile, you know we like to stay connected personally throughout the year, not just when we ask for your support.
Our approach is not about overwhelming inboxes; it's about fostering relationships that stand the test of time. We prefer sending sincere messages instead of burying our followers and supporters in big email campaigns created by a marketer.
Because our "donors" are more than just donors…they're partners.
See, we are not your average ministry in many ways.
It is no secret that our cause is not as attractive or appealing as a nonprofit that fights world hunger. Many well-meaning people cannot comprehend why a porn addiction ministry is even necessary or how it can help change the world.
After all, shouldn't people be able to "just control their sexual urges?"
So, they give to other causes, leaving us with few donors and a small staff that fundraises less than a handful of times throughout the year.
It might sound strange that it's hard to convince others that the thousands of people visiting our website each month need real help.
But it is.
- They don't hear the stories of broken families and ruined marriages.
- They don't have to face individuals who feel hopeless and lost.
- They don't see the lives of people who've been transformed.
Simply put… they don't get it.
But you do.
- You understand that freedom from pornography offers a new lease on life, restoring relationships with others and with one's self.
- You understand that we go beyond simply trying to control poor behavioral choices; we actively assist individuals in enhancing their mental, spiritual, and sexual well-being.
- You understand we help people overcome shame and rediscover their true identity and value.
And that's why when you give, you do so not just as a "donor" but as a partner in our work.
You are the reason we get an email like this from a man whose life was changed through our small group community.
He said:
"Victory in this area positively impacts relationships with everyone around us. Your ministry was the foundation of that positive impact on my life. Chris was my group leader; I consider him a friend because of what we have shared and because of his investment in me."
This ministry work is h-a-r-d, but these testimonies inspire us to keep going, and hopefully inspire you as well.
Please join us in this much-needed work by donating to our year-end fundraising campaign today!
