Hey L,
I want to be honest with you. The last few emails I've sent you about us and our year-end fundraiser violate best practices of "good" fundraising.
What I mean is this…
When fundraising, it is often advised to avoid talking about yourself and instead focus on sharing stories and connecting with the person you are appealing to.
And that's not bad advice.
However, I thought it was important for us to clarify what our ministry is about and how we're different from others in our space.
Why?
Because we want believers more than just donors.
We want people who… yes, support the work we do, but also believe in what we do and how we do it. In other words, they aren't just giving to support a nice cause or check off a box.
They give because they care and believe what we do is needed and important.
And so I want you to be 100% comfortable with who we are and what we represent.
That's why I talked about…
- How we view and treat our donors.
- Where we spend our money.
- Our approach to resources and programs.
But make no mistake: we are not the heroes of this story. We are just the ones honored to do the work.
You are the hero.
Without you, we wouldn't be here, and the people we serve daily wouldn't get the help they need either. Without believers and supporters like you, we wouldn't see lives transformed in front of our eyes every day.
We wouldn't get messages like Kevin's…
