A month ago my son Hunter came home from school and told me that a kid he knew from school told him that "You're not a man until you jerk off."
That's an exact quote.
When I heard that, on the one hand I was frustrated because these are the crazy types of thoughts being shared among teens and children. On the other hand, I was immensely encouraged that my son 1) was comfortable enough with me to tell me this, and 2) recognized the stupidity of such a comment.
But you know what, if I hadn't had many talks with him about masturbation, sex, and porn in the past, there is a good chance he would have never shared this story with me and worse yet, he may have believed what he was told!?
