Hey L,
I'm not going to lie.
One of the most challenging aspects of working with many Christians concerning their recovery efforts is walking the line of imparting extrabiblical knowledge without looking like I am dismissing or underappreciating the value of Biblical teaching.
I think in large part, this is because many in the Christian community have a deep distrust of things like psychology and scientific theory because both have historically often been seen as antagonists to the Christian faith.
But more significant is that many leaders in the church community have reinforced this distrust, even labelling the incorporation of psychological principles into Christian care as a "disease" that attacks the church.
This leaves many Christians with a huge question...
Do I buy into some of the merits of psychology thought?
Or...
Given the problematic tenants of various psychological theories, am I just better off throwing out the baby with the bath water?
Well that's the topic of today's post so make sure you check it out here and let us know what you think in the comments!
