Hey L,
What does the word "recovery" mean to you?
If you are like many people, the word recovery (when used in the context of the work we do) refers to the exercise of detangling oneself from compulsive unwanted sexual behavior(s) using various measures and resources.
Often the assumption is that the recovery process has both a beginning (when someone enters 'treatment") and an end (when someone is able to maintain sobriety). The period of time that process spans may vary greatly from person to person, but shorter is better - right?
Maybe not.
See, when we approach the idea of recovery with an understanding that we are just engaging in a short-lived endeavor born out of necessity, we set ourselves up for real disappointment and even relapse.
This is why you won't see Live Free or XXXchurch promising solutions that offer any sort of short-term results or guarantees. Because we know and understand that recovery is a lifelong endeavor and that recovery is best approached with a long-term mindset.
Consequently, this month we will be focusing our content and conversations around the idea of long-term recovery.
But how long is long-term?
Well that's the topic of today's post so check it out here and let us know what you think in the comments.
