Hey L,
Last week I asked you a question… Who are you?
Seems like a simple enough question but, is it? The reality is for so many of us our answer is connected to what we do or how we perform.
I'm an achiever.
I'm a loser.
I'm a great husband.
I'm a terrible husband.
I'm a loving wife who is desired by her husband.
I'm a bad wife whose husband would rather look at porn than me.
I'm a great student with a bright future.
I'm a dummy with low expectations.
You get it?
And here's the thing, when we base our identity on how we perform or what we achieve we set ourselves up for disappointment and a life filled with anxiety.
Because, at the end of the day we can't meet the demands of "who we are."
If we are an "achiever" we go to things like porn when we fail to achieve and if we are a "loser" we go to porn to prove that fact to ourselves.
It's a sharp double-edged sword that will cut your soul to pieces.
This week my friend and X3 contributor Sathiya Sam shared some great thoughts on this topic.
